Jay Sample
People started to take notice of Jay Sample in the late 90’s. His slamming Jacking Chicago and Funky Electro House were a hit on the dance floors around the world . The native born New Jersey Jock was soon invited to spin at The Sound Factory Bar downstairs in New York , a club made famous by regular appearances by Little Louie Vega and Frankie Knuckles back in the day.
Jay helped remix some tracks and some of them rose to international acclaim and resulted in garnering an invitation to headline the infamous Club Yellow in Tokyo, Japan. After returning to the States, Jay longed for the excitement and opportunities he had seen there. Inspired by the energy of Asia he returned to Japan for a two-year odyssey, playing at clubs and lounges like Cave, Cube 326 Lime , Odeon and Yellow just to name a few. Jay’s signature sound of hard hitting disco filtered and electro tracks just keeps people wanting more and more.
In 2000 Jay headed back to New York and spent a couple years out of the Scene but sometimes playing in Toronto and around New York city. Asia kept calling him. He made his return to Tokyo in 2002 and hasn’t’ looked back. Despite his absence it did not take Jay long to land on his feet and he was soon opening for Deep Dish at Club Yellow plus playing in Bali, Indonesia and Seoul, Korea. Party goers in Seoul were awed by his skills and he was immediately signed to a monthly residency. Since then Jay has played with acts such as Xpress 2, Armand Van Helden, Steve “Silk” Hurley, DJ Taro, and Cut Creator.
He is currently living and based in South Beach Miami. He has three club residencies and two monthly parties. When available he still heads to Tokyo, New York, and Indonesia At the end of the year he plans to do a two month tour and mixed CD titled, Lost in Asia Vol. 2 with his hit single remix of Sea Sex and Sun for the release in 2008.
