Jon White
Jon White is one of the rising stars of the dance music scene. A career which has already seen him travel the world numerous times over shows no signs of slowing – completely the opposite in fact.
A professional career, which began in 1998, has seen him play alongside the biggest DJs in the business for brands such as Ministry Of Sound, Defected, Pacha, Zouk, Cream, Hed Kandi, The Gallery, Slinky, Space Ibiza, Café Mambo, Godskitchen, Azuli, Back2Basics and Moneypennys.
After an amazing 4 years as resident at UK Superclub the Opera House in Bournemouth, Jon packed his suitcase in Dec ’03 on a year long world tour and hasn’t looked back. After returning to Bali with good friend Demi (S.O.S/Deeper Substance) where they teamed up at their old stomping ground Double Six, Jon moved on to Singapore where he became the founding resident of Singapore’s hugely successful ‘Attica’.
Originally planned to be a chill-out bar, Jon’s cutting edge house music soon made Attica Singapore’s hottest nightspot, receiving rave reviews from local press and media and making Jon a household name on the Asian clubbing scene.
It soon became apparent Attica needed to expand and six months after Attica was launched, a second floor, Attica Too, opened. In the coming months the likes of Dave Seaman, David Piccioni, Pete Gooding and Terry Farley all graced the decks alongside Jon.
After an amazing 2 years in Singapore it was time for a change and Jon left to become resident for Asian clubbing institution Zouk at their Superclub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Jon was resident in both the Velvet Underground and Main Rooms, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie and James Lavelle. In April, Jon was privileged to headline in the mainroom for Zouk’s 2nd anniversary.
July ’06 saw Jon on the move again, this time to Shanghai where he teamed back up with Attica to launch their newest venture – the 2000 capacity Attica Shanghai.
2006 also saw Jon enter the studio with good friend Jason Herd (Herd & Fitz, Subliminal). The result was a deep electronic remix of the 1992 Future Sound Of London seminal classic, ‘Papua New Guinea’. After a limited mailout at the end of November, it was picked up by Pete Tong who played the track on his Essential Selection show on BBC Radio1. Further support followed from the likes of Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, D Ramirez, Mark Knight, MYNC Project and Full Intention’s Michael Gray and Jon Pearn. The track was released globally alongside the original in May ’07 on Jumpin’ and Pumpin’. The track also featured on the Renaissance Compilation – Past, Present and Future.
Spring 2007 saw Attica voted best nightclub in Shanghai barely 6 months after opening, whilst Jon continued to rock the dancefloor alongside house legends like Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo, Sandy Rivera, Simon Dunmore, Allister Whitehead and Jeremy Healy. He also performed alongside Diva Barbara Tucker and the amazing Ron Carroll, while representing brands such as Cream, Pacha, Defected, Subliminal and Azuli.
Jon was also featured in May’s edition of M8 Magazine who featured him alongside Pete Tong after covering his first visit to China.
Onto Autumn ’07 and Jon was back in the studio working on various collaborations with Dutch producer Phil Van De Werken (Phuzz) while continuing to rock dancefloors across the globe. November 2007 saw the release of Jon’s debut Mix album ‘Thinking Out Loud Asia’ to impressive reviews from the dance music press.
2008 saw Jon continue building his already impressive reputation working alongside the likes of Sebastien Leger, Spirit Catcher, Steve Lawler, Miguel Migs, and Marshall Jefferson for his weekly Ministry Of Sound residency in Shanghai. Jon was also featured in an 8 page article on Asian clubbing in the March edition of Mixmag.
After 10yrs as one of the most highly respected resident DJs across the globe, Jon has now taken the step to join the International DJ circuit. He recently signed to Martina Burke’s Agency ‘Agent Asia’ and is joined on the books by such house music luminaries as Martin Solveig, Joey Negro and Chicago’s DJ Pierre.
