Terry Camaro
DJ Taro’s prolific career has had him playing worldwide for eight strong years with almost every venue booking him back and many offereing full or part time residencies.
2002 was his first foray into music production, producing six tracks all for release on his #002 TARRO “Hidden Dragon Mix”. These songs next to some of the biggest names in the industry are set to secure his name and launch his production career. On the strength of these unreleased tracks, Taro was asked to contribute two remixes to a BOOWY “Moral Trance Mix” compilation alongside such legends as DJ Tsuyoshi, Nick Taylor and Jet More. This compilation has already sold over 300 000 copies and is still selling strong in Japan. (Boowy are Japan’s answer to the Beatles)
Regular guest appearnaces at most major clubs in Tokyo (Womb, Luners, Core FURA, Club Asia) and for local promoters (Protocol, Vision Quest, Mothership) have gained Taro a strong following in local music circles. His residency at PYLON pushed him into the big leagues of Tokyo’s DJ scene and secured a future in the music world of Asia.
Along the way he has played regularly in NZ, Australia, Canada, Taiwan and Korea next to such legends as Nick Warren (Bali Feb , 2006) Sasha (April 29 Amsterdam) Guy Ornadel (Tokyo, 2004), Eddie Halliwell (for SPACE, Ibiza in Tokyo), and countless other DJSs out there pushing the scene and the limits of sound.
In 2005 Taro started producing and playing under the name Terry Camaro, first in Australia at Club Elsewhere (Surfers Paradise) and then in Bali for the busy month of August. This character Terry C is a performance art piece in motion and captured Bali in over 20 appearances in August. The spin off from this new look is only just starting to roll but already an invitation to play alongside Sasha for the Supper Club boat party in Amsterdam as well as a gig at famous Parisienne Man Ray Club have been booked. At a loss to really describe what Terry does it can only be said that embodies everything right and a whole lotta wrong in house music. Too much fun to really exist Terry is te alter ego to end all.
Taro’s sound is best described as driving electro House with an energy that pushes dance floors to the limit then releases them with euphoric breakdowns. The music is infused with edgy rock synths and cut up with blasts from the past yet still firmly entrenched in the future. It’s a style influenced by the masters he has played with and loved for years but it is surely his own and his prescence behind the decks is definitely felt all the way to the back of the room.
